La Route Richard Cœur de Lion est un itinéraire de découverte situé au sud-ouest de la Haute-Vienne, partant de la Charente jusqu'aux portes de la Dordogne et de la Corrèze. Au cœur de la Nouvelle-Aquitaine, le circuit regroupe sur près de 200 km, 23 sites ouverts ou accessibles au public. Son parcours est indiqué par une signalisation routière à entête : retrouvez un lion couronné au cœur percé d’une flèche, rappelant le destin tragique de Richard Cœur de Lion au château de Châlus Chabrol où il fut grièvement blessé d'un carreau d'arbalète en 1199.

The Richard the Lion Heart Route is a discovery route located in the south-western part of the Haute-Vienne, starting from the Charente and ending at the gateway to the Dordogne and the Corrèze. In the heart of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, the circuit covers almost 200 km and includes 23 sites that are open or accessible to the public. Its route is indicated by road signs with a label: find a crowned lion with an arrow piercing its heart, a reminder of the tragic fate of Richard the Lionheart at the castle of Châlus Chabrol where he was seriously wounded by a crossbow in 1199.
